Automotive interior basics: branding, latest specifications, major functions and usage, customer expectations; evolution, constructions, and benchmarking; plastic materials — specifications, selection, database search, and manufacturing processes; generating trends (historical and real time). Automotive interior design: vehicle design program overview, interior designing key aspects, designer roles and responsibilities; interior trim bill of material, subsystems and part nomenclature; design considerations, packaging, costing, fit and finish; design guidelines.
Manufacturing processes and tooling overview: how to define MTD, undercuts, introduction to sliders and lifters, lifter travel calculation; injection molding and related processes.
CAD and GD&T foundations; CATIA V5 / UG NX for plastic product design — from Sketcher Workbench fundamentals through advanced surface design, interior part modeling, and production-ready deliverables.
Essential design features for injection-molded parts including ribs, dog houses, and heat stakes; design rules and engineering feature design; basic fundamentals of DFM, DFA, and DFMEA; design defects and their causes.
